Mo te tunga | About the roleYou will review and develop NZDF military doctrine that applies across all three Services (joint doctrine). This includes coordinating input from subject matter experts, research, writing, editing, proofreading, and preparation doctrine for publication. Joint doctrine provides the three Services with practical technical instruction to plan and execute military operations in accordance with policy. You will assist with the management of the NZDF joint doctrine media and the design and publishing of NZDF joint doctrine publications. You will provide support to the joint doctrine management process and facilitate the development of continuous improvement in the management of joint doctrine.Occasional domestic and international travel is required as you will engage with our international partners and represent the NZDF at conferences. You will need to remain up to date with developments in international doctrine and consider how they may affect the NZDF's interoperability with our partners.This role is based in Wellington CBD. Once you have undergone training and are up to speed, there is the option of working from home up to two days a week.Nga pukenga me nga wheako | Skills and ExperienceYou will have highly effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to write detailed technical instructions. You will have experience with structural editing, copy editing, and proofreading.As a highly motivated, self-starter you'll be comfortable working autonomously and managing your time efficiently whilst remaining part of our supportive, close knit team.You will have:Excellent interpersonal skills and the confidence to engage with stakeholders.The ability to explain complex technical information in plain language that is easily understood by users.Strong critical thinking skills, with an ability to investigate, compare, and evaluate complex information, and make effective decisions and recommendations.A high degree of computer literacy.Some ability to use Dreamweaver, SharePoint and publishing software such as InDesign, Photoshop, and Adobe Acrobat is highly advantageous.A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent military qualification.An understanding of the military environment and the role of military doctrine is advantageous but not essential.Nou te rourou | What's in it for youYour skills and dedication deserve recognition, and NZDF delivers with competitive pay matched to your experience.
