The details: We have a total of 1.5 FTE senior dietitian vacancy in the specialty of diabetes spread across paediatric, adolescent, and adult services.
Salary details: PSA Allied, Public Health and Technical MECA + KiwiSaver
An exciting and unique opportunity is available for two experienced senior dietitians to join the Diabetes Teams working across Paediatric, Youth & Young Adult, and Adult Services. These senior dietitian positions are seen as designated positions and salary will be banded at the appropriate senior level accordingly. Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity These senior dietitian roles will involve having a number of patient clinics throughout the Waikato Region. You will be involved in education and training, as well as providing support and leadership to the Diabetes team. One senior dietitian position is spread across the paediatric diabetes service (0.3 FTE) and youth & young adult diabetes service (0.4 FTE). The second senior position sits within the adult diabetes service. Days and hours of work will be negotiated with the successful candidates.
Key responsibilities of the role:
Work with children, adolescents, and adults (across two services) who have Type 1 Diabetes, complex Type 2 Diabetes, diabetes in pregnancy, chronic kidney disease, and other high risk diabetes related conditions and complications.
Provide in depth education to those using continuous insulin pump therapy and other technical devices for diabetes management, as well as being an important member of the Pump Therapy Training Team commencing people with Type 1 diabetes on insulin pump therapy.
Provide professional supervision and mentorship to new dietetic staff and peers, promote a supportive learning environment within the team, and take a leadership position at local and national levels.
Deliver improved outcomes for people with diabetes through innovative service delivery and the development of practice and research.

Provide in-depth expert education and support to the wider community
Skills and experience you'll need to be considered for the role:
Minimum of 5 years' experience as a dietitian
Experience working with people with diabetes
Drivers licence
Te Whatu Ora Waikato Regional Diabetes Service provides secondary level care to those within the Waikato Region. This expands as far as Coromandel, Taumarunui, Te Kauwhata and the Raglan coast.
