The New Zealand School of Dance (NZSD) is based in Newtown and is one of the Southern Hemisphere's leading dance training institutions, preparing students for careers in professional dance performance.
About the Company: Established in 1967, the NZSD has an international reputation. It is known for producing versatile and employable dancers, skilled in classical ballet and contemporary dance. The School's unique training develops qualities that meet the needs of the dance profession while extending the boundaries of the art form.
Around eighty gifted young dancers study full-time at the School. In recent years this has included students from around New Zealand, the Asia/Pacific region and further afield. An impressive faculty of teaching staff, choreographers, and international guest tutors assist students to achieve two or three-year qualifications in dance performance.
About the Role:
The Development Manager role is to manage and develop a portfolio of sustainable long term funding sources for the New Zealand School of Dance (NZSD) and to oversee the implementation of the Fundraising and Development Strategy.
Responsibilities:
Individual Giving:
Manage and build NZSD's individual giving programmes to develop and implement donor cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies.Proactively seek and facilitate relationships with donors to grow scholarships and bequests.Provide stewardship through donor newsletters, events for Supporters, surveys, etc.Strategically plan funding approaches to ensure annual fundraising targets are met through Identifying appropriate / new funding opportunities.Develop case for support for grant applications to trusts, foundations, embassies, high commissions and other grant providers.NZSD Foundation:
Maintain relationships with all Foundation Patrons to develop a programme of regular giving through Patrons programme.Host two NZSD Foundation events annually for Foundation Board and PatronsSponsorship:
Develop and manage sponsorship partnerships, materials and proposals that align with the vision and strategic direction of the School.Deliver donor events in Auckland and Christchurch; regional initiatives to grow the School's profile and donor base.Work with the Scholarship Committee to manage the scholarship process and provide regular communications to scholarship providers, updates on their recipient and opportunities for them to meet.About you: Minimum two years' experience in a fundraising role or fundraising projectsProven track record of successful grant applicationsExperience working with CRMsAbility to prioritise and manage multiple activitiesExceptional communication skills (both written and verbal), interpersonal and organisation skillsAbility to share passion and knowledge of the School with stakeholdersEnergetic and collaborative team player who can influence others and overcome challenges with a positive attitudeExcellent attention to detail and time management skillsNZSD are looking for a proactive development manager to bring fresh ideas and energy to the role to manage and develop sustainable long-term funding sources for the school.
