The UTS Data Arena is a 360-degree interactive data visualisation facility that is recruiting for a Visualisation Developer to assist with our goal of changing the way we view and interact with data.
You will implement new data visualisation techniques, improve and maintain data visualisation pipelines for use in the Data Arena Virtual Machine, and provide technical support and training to Researchers whilst reporting to the Data Arena Technical Director.
This is a high performing computer graphics system driving six 3D-stereo video projectors that are edge-blended to create a seamless three-dimensional panorama. It's an exciting time to join UTS -you will work with a powerful, immersive facility that assists businesses, government, and researchers to simplify complex information, visually.
Main duties/responsibilities:
Implement, test, debug, and maintain production quality software
Peer-review code with other developers
Learn and improve the quality of the DA code base
Use git for Software Version Control
Create new & adapt existing data visualisation pipelines in cooperation with various DA Researchers
Work with domain experts, helping them to turn their data into a 3D geometric representation which provides insight and understanding
Skills/experience required:
Advanced understanding of 3D computer graphics, including OpenGL & shaders
Some prior knowledge of Data Visualisation Techniques
Demonstrated skills in computer graphics concepts & interactive techniques
Demonstrated ability to peer-review code with other developers & help build a productive team
Python and C/C++ programming skills in a Linux environment using X11 X-Windows & Qt
Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new concepts and develop a visual representation to support data analysis
Remuneration
Salary Range:$99,324 to $113,119 pa (HEW 8)
The university offers 9.5% superannuation. Employee benefits include flexible work practices, child care centres, generous parental leave and salary packaging opportunities.
This appointment will be made on afull time, fixed termbasis for a period of 12 months.
