Take on a leadership role and support the farm manager running this Organic farm located just ten minutes north of Levin.
The Opportunity This is a great opportunity to increase your leadership experience and develop your skills across all aspects of dairy farming by joining a career-oriented organisation.
You will be responsible for assisting the Farm Manager with:
·Planning and management of the herd and dairy operations.
·Feed allocation, pasture management and budgeting.
·Monitoring animal health, breeding and maintaining records.
·Coaching and supervising staff as well as delegating work.
·Assisting with milking, feeding and general stock and farm work.
The Farm Located 10 minutes north of Levin and 25 minutes from Palmerston North, Egmont is a 196-ha property which will milk approximately 490 cows at peak through a 50 bail rotary with milk hub, electronic drafting, feed pad and recent effluent system development.
You will be apart of a team of four with a casual team member that assists with our weekend roster.
We run a 5 on 2 off roster most of the season, 6 on 2 off for 8 weeks over the calving period.
About You You will be self-motivated and passionate about dairy farming, wanting to grow your career and develop leadership skills.
You will also have:
·Proven dairy experience at this level
·Strong leadership and commitment to individual and team development
·Excellent pasture management and feed planning skills
·Eagerness to learn and support the manager in daily work planning
·The ability to work proactively in a team environment and be trusted to lead when the Farm Manager is away
·First class attitude to Health and Safety and Animal Welfare
