* Customer-centric role supporting the work in Crown Property * Partnering role with other government agencies * Offices based in Hamilton, Wellington or Christchurch with hybrid working (3 days in office) Korero mo te turanga - About the role We have a newly created Customer Regulatory Specialist role in our Crown Property function. This follows change implementation designed to bring us closer to our customers and have us take on more responsibility for property and land management. It is an exciting time to join us in supporting the responsible management and enhancing the use of Crown Land for existing and future generations. All our specialists in Crown Property work collaboratively to ensure that portfolios meet legislative and maintenance requirements. We also work extensively with Iwi on treaty settlement properties. This position is being offered in one of our offices; Wellington, Christchurch or Hamilton. We can offer mutually acceptable flexible working arrangements and our team office based anchor day is Thursdays. The team for Assessment and Acquisition: You will be part of the team responsible for processing/triaging applications for public use of Crown Land. The Assessment and Acquisition team oversees applications such as recreational permits, access letters, land status checks and gravel extraction. The team are also responsible for Crown purchases including marine and coastal areas and Treaty acquisitions. This team plays a critical part in providing the connection between Crown Property and our customers. This is our 'work engine' so you will have previous experience excelling in a high-volume customer function, with statutory decision making. You will understand system workflows and the importance of business process. He pukenga tou - Skills & Experience About you: * Experience in Stakeholder engagement & relationship building; able to navigate difficult conversations with our customers whilst still maintaining a positive relationship. * Comfortable with working in Te Ao Maori (Maori world) and an understanding of Tikanga Maori. * A self-starter, and lateral thinker, who works with agility whilst keeping relevant legislative & process driven environment top of mind. * An excellent problem solver able to apply logic to multiple situations, decisively! * Comfortable reading and interpreting legislation. * Excellent communication, and able to apply a flexible approach to your work. * Experience working in a high volume environment. You may also bring: * A strong understanding of government legislation including national policy statements and local authority legislation. * An understanding of laws and regulations surrounding land obligations including Resource Management Act 1991, Biosecurity Act 1993, Forests Act 1949 and relevant national policy statements would be a plus. * Proven experience in customer service management. * Working collaboratively with Iwi Partners .
