Location: Porirua Service: Youth Justice Forensic Community Team Contract: Permanent, Full time Salary: As per Meca, based on experience Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role The Maori Advisor will be expected to be proficient in or committed to developing, the knowledge base in Tikanga and Te Reo Māori. The Māori Advisor will be a role model and provide sound clinical and cultural considerations in the multidisciplinary team process with the ability to support and ensure the delivery of recovery focussed services to rangatahi and whaanau are aligned with the Maori Health Plan 2020-2023. Mō tō mātou rōpū - About our team The regional arm of Te Korowai-Whāriki includes the Central Regional Forensic Mental Health Service which operates at the interface between Mental Health Services and the Justice System and works within the following settings - prisons, courts, community, and inpatient. The Service offers assessment and rehabilitation services to defendants charged with criminal offences and offenders who have psychiatric illness. The Central Regional Forensic Service also is involved with the Youth Court providing a Court Liaison Service and completing specialist psychological or psychiatric assessments ordered by the Court through Children Young Persons & Family Act, 1989 (Section 333). Moū - About you We are looking for someone with sound knowledge and experience in individual counselling and support who can demonstrate knowledge and understanding of cultural concepts and Maori Models of practice. The ideal candidate will have a relevant graduate qualification and registration in a recognized discipline who has an understanding of mental health in young people with the ability to work in an emotionally challenging and changing environment.
