About the business and the role Sutherland Produce is a leading NZ fresh vegetable producer packer and marketer Based in the Franklin region our team is committed to innovation and excellence in every aspect of our business and in support of our business partners We are seeking to attract an agronomist to provide professional leadership to our crop production activities Reporting directly to the General Manager the successful applicant will lead a small dedicated team and take responsibility for the production of our vegetable crops from seeding to harvesting Job tasks and responsibilities Responsibilities will include Yearround production and harvesting of crops to schedule and quality specifications Detailed recording of crop performance and agronomic practices Improvement of crop production techniques and financial performance Maintenance of best management practice in food safety and environmental performance Skills and experience The successful applicant will possess Technical knowledge and practical experience in crop production The ability to selforganise and take full responsibility for planning and execution of large scale production of seedling transplants and intensive fieldgrown crops Strong analytical ability and computer literacy Welldeveloped communication and staff management skills A full drivers license NZ residency or a valid work visa Job benefits and perks The remuneration package will be adjusted to recognise the experience qualifications and skills of the successful applicant If you are interested in being a key participant in a large horticultural operation while enjoying the benefits of having NZs largest city within easy reach then we need to hear from you
