Court Reporter - Invercargill

Are you a journalist with a passion for telling stories that make a difference?The Otago Daily Times has a vacancy for a reporter looking to step up to join our team based in Invercargill for an 11-month fixed-term opportunity.The role, which is funded through the Public Interest Journalism Fund, will require you to report events from the daily court listings in the Invercargill District Court. The role will be one of several new roles in a court-reporting team that covers the lower South Island and you will be working with some of the country's top court reporters. Your work will appear across our publications and websites and be shared within a national court reporting network.You will have a strong nose for news, be details-focussed, well organised and want to produce front page court-related stories and accurate lists of court case outcomes. Experience in court reporting is an advantage.The successful candidate will have:? self-motivation with a strong work ethic? a journalism qualification and, preferably, some experience as a reporter? a solid understanding of media law? a passion for informing the community?
