Coronial Case Manager at NZ Ministry of Justice, Hawkes Bay Coronial Services Case Manager – Permanent full time (40 hours per week) Te Haeata/The Opportunity Coronial Services are currently looking for a Hastings based full time Coronial Case Manager. You will be responsible for co-ordinating all matters referred to the coroner in the Hawkes Bay region as well as parts of the lower north island including Taranaki, Whanganui, Rangitikei, Manawatu, Horowhenua, Wairarapa and greater Wellington region. Applicants outside of these regions will also be considered. On occasion, there may be times when you are called upon to assist on other matters for other Coroners outside your region. You will be working in a fast-changing environment that will require a high level of agility and resiliency.

Excellent written and verbal communication skillsExcellent knowledge office tools including adobeA natural empathy with people/families/whanau of people who have died.A strong background in case management or similar work experienceA can-do attitude, flexibility and a supportive team playerAn interest in the work of Coronial ServicesThese key responsibilities will include:
Gathering all inquiry information and reports both physical and electronic and be able to present the information to the coroner conciselyCase management of large volumes of electronic files (while keeping a physical files)Maintaining our electronic database (CMS), ensure it is up to date, complete and accurateLiaising and providing information to stakeholders and Government Agencies, in particular our interested parties, Police and othersContribute to monitoring and reporting on the Coronial Services Unit activitiesAbility to arrange and support your coroner to conduct a preliminary hearing or manage an inquest hearing in court.You will have strong interpersonal skills that will support your work with the coroners, but also be capable of dealing with distraught family members in sensitive circumstances. An ability to communicate with people from diverse backgrounds is essential.
You will be expected to provide excellent and highly organised case management support to our coroners. You will need to build and maintain excellent relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.If you have the following key skills, then we would like to hear from you:
Work effectively and calmly in stressful situationsBe able to handle viewing graphic coronial materialHave excellent written and verbal communication skillsHighly organised, able to prioritise and multi-taskExceptional record-keeping skills with accurate typing and data entryA good working knowledge of Word and ExcelAbility to work both with direction and independentlyRelevant previous experience from any other similar rolesThis is a challenging role that will allow you to utilise your empathy, case management experience, people and relationship management skills to a high level and be part of the team that provides New Zealanders with a first-class Coronial Service.
As travel may be required from time to time, you must be able to travel, sometimes at short notice. You will need to hold a full New Zealand Drivers Licence.

The appointing salary for this role will be between $65,066 - $83,567 based on skills and experience.
