Zest Cafà is a busy and vibrant cafà in Gisborne, offering variety of breakfast, lunch and cabinet food, which are made freshly from the best seasonal local ingredients. We take pride in delivering exceptional dining experiences to our patrons and are seeking a dedicated cook to join our culinary team. Job description - Key Responsibilities: Ensure ingredients and final products are fresh Follow recipes, including measuring, weighing and mixing ingredients Bake, grill, steam and boil meats, vegetables, fish, poultry and other foods Present, garnish and arrange final dishes Maintain a clean and safe work area, including handling utensils, equipment and dishes Handle and store ingredients and food Maintain food safety and sanitation standards Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment and utensils Execute opening and closing procedures Set up workstations with required ingredients and equipment Check the quality and freshness of ingredients Monitor station inventory levels Accommodate guests special requests Operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, grills and fryers Experience required: At least 2 years of relevant experience working in a commercial kitchen Skills must include: A strong passion for food, cooking, and a desire to learn and improve. Knowledge of culinary techniques, food handling, and safety practices. Effective communication skills and the ability to work harmoniously as part of a team. Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations A keen eye for detail and a commitment to upholding our culinary standards. Enthusiasm for embracing new challenges and adapting to various cuisines. Dedication to upholding the highest standards of food quality and presentation.
