Details of the offer

Our work is secret, but the reason for our success isn't. It's our people. And we're just like you. We're ordinary people. But together, we're doing extraordinary things to protect New Zealand and New Zealanders.
While we're ordinary people, we're not all the same. We welcome diversity, in all its forms, in fact we consider it a strength.
Join us and become part of a Community where your skills, experiences and ideas are valued and you're encouraged to be curious, to share your ideas and of course, have fun along the way.
If you're up for the challenge, become Beyond Ordinary with us.
We have two roles in our Web and Digital Specialists Team. This team manages a suite of Content Management Systems and collaboration/workflow tools, and in this environment we need to make them count! The roles have a system admin component as we look after the tech - but we need you to look after our people as well - ensuring that business and mission units get real value from these tools and that they enable busy people to do their jobs more effectively.
You'll be encouraged to get out there and make a difference - discover the pain points and frustratingly manual processes that our people are putting up with - then use your skills and expert knowledge of the tools to fix them. This might be designing and building a workflow, customising templates, spaces and macros, integrating platforms to pull/push data, designing intranet toolkits, setting up blogs, surveys and web forms.
As a member of the team you may be an established platform specialist or able to work at different layers of the stack. What makes the team tick is putting our collective skills and ideas together to solve customer problems.
Our tools include GCSB's ECM system (Objective), the Intranets for GCSB and the NZIC, the Atlassian platforms (Confluence, Jira, BitBucket and Crowd), and technical support for the NZIC's public websites. The role involves:
Consulting with technical and non-technical users so they get the most of the tools we provide
Understanding their requirements and designing/configuring solutions
Providing technical advice and assistance to content/website owners
Installing, configuring, upgrading and maintaining our applications
Testing out and making recommendations on new plugins/module
Designing and building automated workflows and platform integrations
You'll bring experience at an intermediate level (or higher) with at least one of the following:
Front end web development (UI)
CMS administration
ECM/EDRMS administration
Workflow development
Information architecture
Web-related services and technologies including web hosting, proxies, databases, DNS, and firewalls
Programming in one or more of: PHP, Python, Java, JavaScript/jQuery, HTML, CSS and publishing applications
Customer support and training (desirable)
Business or process analysis (desirable)
Energy, enthusiasm and a continual learning mind-set will be key to your success in this busy and varied role.
We want our people to succeed, whatever success looks like for them. Join us and we'll give you significant professional development opportunities aimed at taking your career in the direction you want it to go. You won't stand still with us as we're committed to ongoing learning and continuous improvement. We're also committed to your wellbeing. We want our people to be the best they can be, both at work and at home. We offer our people comprehensive benefits, access to staff networking groups, flexible working and great work-life balance.
If you want to love coming to work each day, let us help you become Beyond Ordinary .
To be eligible for employment within the NZIC you must have been a NZ citizen for at least 10 years. Alternatively you must hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and ideally have been a citizen of UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years.
You must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Special (TSS) security clearance. Ordinarily to obtain this level of clearance candidates must have a 15 year checkable background in countries where meaningful and reliable checks can be undertaken. Where requisite checks are unable to be made, the candidate application may not be able to be progressed.
Use this online tool to self-check your eligibility for a TSS security clearance. Please note that this tool is not part of the formal security clearance process: http://www.protectivesecurity.govt.nz/eligibility-tool
The NZIC treats all applications for employment in the strictest confidence and we ask that you maintain a similar level of confidentiality. You are expected to exercise discretion during the recruitment process and throughout your career.
