Editing & Publishing (Advertising, Arts & Media) This role within commissioning is responsible for working across and delivering independent and in-house commissions for Chinese (primary) and English (secondary) unscripted content. This role is important to delivering our strategy, working with both In-House Studio and the External Production Houses to commission content based on a deep understanding of audience needs. The ability to commission across platforms as we move to an ever-digital world will be critical in the way audiences experience what Mediacorp has to offer. Responsibilities You'll ensure that priorities and editorial strategy are aligned, also inspire and engage in-house and independent producers by articulating your editorial priorities, and work with them to create and develop ideas that meet our audiences' needs. You'll also provide creative leadership to the development process, encouraging risk taking and innovation whilst maintaining expertise to identify trends and opportunities for outstanding content. Your commissions have to demonstrate value for money, quality and originality. Commissioned programmes have to be compliant with existing codes and guidelines, delivered within timeline and budget considerations that you are accountable for. Inspiring Creativity To understand and communicate the content strategy and develop original commissions To develop good working relationship with independent and in-house production teams, at a level that nurtures and develops the best ideas To consistently deliver fresh, original, high quality productions; to understand and communicate the needs and views of Audience, Commissioners and viewers to production teams. To realise the full potential of ideas across multiple channels and platforms, working with relevant stakeholders To be pro-active in developing briefs / proposals with production teams and to deliver the overall editorial strategy Managing Commissions Successfully Ensure that the content is in line with the overall audience, content and editorial strategy To be responsible for ensuring that programmes deliver on time and budget and to an editorially high standard. This includes scheduling and monitoring progress on programmes, anticipating problems and taking appropriate action. Review budgets, scripts, cast, offlines, marketing campaigns; you must be able to give detailed copious notes on every script and offline episode with the aim of improving the quality of the programmes Brainstorm with the Marketing and Social media teams to ensure maximum publicity for your shows. Work closely with marketing and comms with regards to the press and marketing strategies for commissioned programmes. Collaborate with Commercial to ensure revenue optimization for the programmes you are assigned to Monitor and assess qualitative and quantitative performance of programmes using data analytics and focus group studies Qualification Degree in any related discipline with at least 3 to 5 years of content development experience A team player with positive work attitude and the ability to work independently Ability to initiate, lead and manage cross-platform projects; you enjoy project management work Strong communicator who is able to articulate and write with clarity; you must be able to engage and inspire, particularly when presenting to a large group of people Good analytical skills with the ability to glean narratives from quantitative data and research A go-getter who thrives in a dynamic environment with tight timelines Meticulous with a keen eye for details Experiences Experience and track record either with or within external production houses or Mediacorp Studio for the unscripted genre, with demonstrable examples of content that have delivered both impact and audiences. Display good editorial judgement and practical knowledge and experience of applying legal and editorial guidelines as they relate to content creation. Some degree of knowledge and experience in the application of the legal dimension of contractual agreements and corporate agreements as they affect production. Knowledge Good understanding of the industry, market and genre. Good understanding of the local & regional media landscape, output across Mediacorp, and our competitors. Knowledge of editorial guidelines relevant to programme making e.g. artists' rights; copyright; insurance requirements. Awareness of programme budgeting, costing, and current market costs of internal and external resources. Good working knowledge of production and post-production processes, techniques and technology.
