ABOUT THE ROLE
The radiology service at Hauora Tairawhiti is a small, dynamic team looking to employ a suitably qualified Radiologist. This role will work collaboratively and cohesively with the radiology team to provide effective services for the Tairawhiti region.
Applicants are expected to have a general scope of radiologist skills including ultrasound, MRI and CT. The Department is hospital based and provides a good mix of inpatient, emergency and outpatient imaging for a community of approximately 47,000 people. Time is split with 70% clinical responsibilities and 30% non-clinical. It is expected that you will also participate in the on call roster which is currently an 'at home call' one in four nights.
Day to day responsibilities include interpreting exams, triaging and protocoling imaging requests, and consulting with referring clinicians. There are opportunities to teach local medical and surgical house officers as well as radiology registrars within the Midlands Region.
We are looking to receive applications from people who are keen to work in a partnership with our Head of Department and other team members to develop new imaging services and work on continuous improvement within our Radiology Department.
ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The department offers a wide range of state of the art imaging including Coronary CTA, CT colonography, Cardiac and Body MRI (including liver, renal, prostate, ano-rectal, and pelvic), MRI arthrography, vascular CTA, vascular US, obstetrical US, and dual energy CT. Unlike other DHBs we also perform MSK MRI for ACC and are one of the few small district health boards to have an onsite MRI scanner.
The radiology department operates the Philips RIS/PACS software and offers Digital General X-ray (DR), Phillips Ingenia 1.5T MRI system, Siemens Flash CT, Digital Mammography and Ultrasound services to the Tairawhiti community.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Registered or eligible for vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ)
Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (FRANZCR) would be favourable for New Zealand or Australian radiologists but non-essential for other foreign applicants.
Experience or interest in expandingmammography is preferred but should not exclude applications. Mammography is optional.
