Daily rail services link Wellington with Wairarapa towns.Learn more about living in the fabulous Wairarapa click here - Korero mo te turanga - About the roleWairarapa Hospital provides secondary services for a population of approximately 50,000, providing 24-hour acute and elective care in general and orthopaedic surgery, medicine, obstetrics and gynaecology, ophthalmology, psychiatry, and paediatrics. The hospital operates both Public & Private theatre sessions covering General Surgery, Anaesthetics, Orthopaedics, Urology, Endoscopy, Gynaecology, and Obstetrics, as well as Ophthalmic and ENT.At Wairarapa Hospital you will be four of three General Surgeons in a unit which provides a comprehensive service for the population of the Wairarapa. Wairarapa Hospital also has a close liaison with Selina Sutherland Hospital, an independent private facility, and there may be opportunities for work in this facility.This is a permanent full time position, working 80 hours (1.0FTE) with an on call requirement of 1 in 4. Applicants must be eligible for Vocational registration with the New Zealand Medical Council.
