Are you passionate about making a positive impact in the Napier community? We're on the lookout for a passionate, experienced Community Advisor to join our enthusiastic Community Strategies team on a fixed termbasis, focusing on Neighbourhood Support.
In this role, you'll play a vital part in fostering safe, supportive, and resilient communities by overseeing the effective management and delivery of the Napier Neighbourhood Support (NNS) service. Your responsibilities will include building and nurturing networks, implementing strategies, and spearheading initiatives to boost the number and efficacy of Neighbourhood Support Groups.
You'll engage with key stakeholders such as Group Contact People, Neighbourhood Support New Zealand, Police, Fire and Emergency NZ, and others to facilitate these efforts.
Key Responsibilities: Facilitating the formation of new Neighbourhood Support (NS) groups, including organizing neighbourhood meetings. Addressing inquiries regarding the establishment of new groups. Collaborating with local communities to foster the growth of NS, with a focus on vulnerable and social housing communities. Connecting community groups with relevant resources and organizations. Identifying, applying for, and leveraging various funding streams and programs to support project delivery. Creating and distributing regular newsletters to NS households, street groups, and partners to keep them informed. Maintaining accurate records, data, and correspondence, including contact lists and membership databases (e.g., GetsReady). Recruiting and providing guidance to volunteers, including street contacts and event volunteers. To excel in this role, candidates ideally should possess: A tertiary qualification or equivalent in social policy, public policy, community development, or a related field. Relevant qualifications and/or experience in community development, social policy, public policy, or related fields. Prior experience in a Safety Coordinator/Community Advisor or similar role. Experience in administration or project coordination. Knowledge and understanding of the community and voluntary sector. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing, facilitation, and presentation abilities. Please note, this is 18 month fixed termopportunity (working40 hours per week) Monday to Friday with the need to be available outside regular office hours including weekends.
