Due to an internal promotion, we are looking for a new Communications Officer, who excels at 'GOOD' communications to assist us to effectively communicate our initiatives, policies, and services to our stakeholders. This is an opportunity to join our dynamic and forward-thinking council that is committed to serving our community with transparency, integrity, and innovation. Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies to enhance public awareness and understanding of Hauraki District Council's programs and services Write and edit various communication materials including press releases, newsletters, reports, and social media content Cultivate relationships with local media outlets, coordinate interviews, and facilitate media coverage of important events and initiatives Assist with social media accounts, ensuring timely and engaging updates Monitor public sentiment and feedback, providing insights to improve communication efforts Coordinate internal communication initiatives to foster a cohesive and informed workforce. Qualifications: Tertiary qualification in communications/public relations, or a related field Proven experience in communications, public relations, or related roles Exceptional writing and editing skills with a keen attention to detail Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively across departments Proven experience working with Iwi & working knowledge of te Tiriti o Waitangi Proficiency in social media platforms, content management systems, and other communication tools Knowledge of local government operations and policies is a plus.
