We are on the lookout for a Communications Manager to continue leading us into the future. We have made some amazing progress in this space over the past year, proactively addressing our community needs, engaging with them on important decisions, informing our staff and responding when things go wrong. We want you to continue advancing us in these areas.

You'll be responsible for leading the communications functions of our Council. This includes; managing communications workflow, relationships with other staff and elected members, creating and implementing high-level communications strategies, responding to risks and managing projects to deliver key information to our community, the media and other stakeholders.

This is a role that requires both strategic thinking, and operational know-how. The Communications Manager will also support and undertake Civil Defence Emergency Management responsibilities when required.
This is a fulltime permanent position based in Marton, however travel throughout the district will be required.
He aha te mahi| What you will do Provide leadership, mentoring and direction to the Communications TeamDevelop, lead and report on Council's overarching Communication and Marketing Strategic PlanProvide expert advice on communicating and engaging with the public, stakeholders and the media to the Mayor, Councillors and staffLead and support projects, initiatives, and information campaignsDevelop and implement community engagement and consultation opportunitiesReview LGOIMA responses from a communications/ reputational management perspectiveSupport Council's commitment to increasing the integration of te ao Maori in communications and engagement activities.
