Communications Adviser The Solomon Islands are situated in the South West pacific and are made up of over 922 islands atolls and cays There is a huge disparity of availability of clean water and sanitation supplies between urban and rural areas with nearly 70 per cent of the population lacking access Solomon Islands Water Authority Solomon Water was established in 1993 their aim is to provide reliable and safe water and sewerage services within its areas of operation They work in partnership with the community to plan deliver and implement infrastructure that seeks to minimise the social and environmental impact Currently Solomon Water is at a stage where it needs to secure more loan and grant money in order to continue its work and update its services The Communications team will be the driving force behind engaging stakeholders to ensure a smooth implementation of major projects is completed and new initiatives achieved In this assignment you will support the communications team in providing clear accessible water related information to community members This will be achieved through reviewing and improving the current strategy developing comms templates and materials developing processes to improve monitoring and evaluation and one to one mentoring of staff to build their capability and confidence This is an opportunity for someone with a strong Comms background to make a real difference to a worthy and important organisation We are looking for a volunteer with Proven experience developing best practice communications materials Proven experience developing and implementing communications strategies Proven experience as mentor and coach Excellent communications skills Experience developing communications materials appropriate for different education levels and skill sets Proven leadership skills including the ability to negotiate sensitive and complex issues with various stakeholders and communities 20192020 41343SOLCommunicationsAdviserFINAL pdf VSA volunteers receive a living allowance and accommodation insurance and medical costs are provided Travel arrangements are organised and funded by VSA along with other costs
