About the Team
This Mental Health Service is Multi-Disciplinary Team that service the North Otago District, based in Oamaru located 75 minutes north of Dunedin. It provides support to Child and Youth, Alcohol and Drug, Adult and Elderly services. It also provides an after-hours on call crisis service.
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Social Worker or Clinical Psychologist to work in a well-established team responsible for delivering services to people with moderate to severe mental illness in North Otago (pop. 23,000). The successful applicant will be required to work as a Duly Authorised Officer under the Mental Health Act (training provided if necessary) and participate on the after-hours on-call roster for the Community Mental Health Team.
About You
Within this position you will be responsible for triaging and assessing patients who present with suspected mental illness. This includes both face to face and telephone assessments. The role also includes case management and crisis work.
You will bring to this role previous experience in a mental health setting and have excellent communication and time management skills. The successful applicant will need to demonstrate that they are a team player and are fully commitment to providing quality care to the patients and their families of the service. Other attributes required include exceptional communication skills and the ability to meet the demands of a busy workload.
To be considered for the role you will have a current, clean drivers license; and you will either have social work registration with the New Zealand Social Work Registration Board (SWRB), or you will be able to gain this registration within 3 months of appointment or if you are a Clinical Psychologist you need to be registered with the NZ Psychologists Board, with a Clinical Psychologist scope and hold a current Annual Practising Certificate.
