This is an excellent physical and neuro-rehabilitation unit where you could work across both inpatient and outpatient services. You would be part of a greater psychology team and have the support of the wider allied health, nursing and medical team. All that and you can have 1 day off to explore the majestic south.
About us Puawai rehabilitation unit is a 12-bed inpatient unit that works mainly with adults (We take pride in supporting our staff to grow and we enable ongoing professional development including regular team in-services, senior staff mentoring, peer review and access to course and conference funding.
Mo te turanga - About the role Your clients, who have neurological and/or physical disorders, will benefit from your experience and ability to work in a wider interdisciplinary team, where you will be responsible for assessing the clients' needs, and assisting them in meeting their rehabilitation goals. You will be carrying out neuropsychological assessments and occasional capacity assessments. You will be working within the rehabilitation team to design and deliver cognitive rehabilitation, psychological support and behavioural support interventions. The post has an attractive study leave allocation for continuing professional development.
Ideally, you'll bring to us experience in working in an interdisciplinary team with clients of all ages with physical and cognitive disabilities. It is essential that you bring excellent time management and communication skills. You'll be adaptable and flexible allowing you to work effectively with your clients and within a changing health environment.
You would be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of optimising patient outcomes and facilitating effective discharge planning, using a patient-centred and evidence-based approach to goal setting and intervention.
In addition, you will have enthusiasm and a willingness to commit to our team and patients. You will be expected to be active in service quality initiatives, therefore be proactive, and innovative and have a quality-driven leadership approach.
Applicants must have a New Zealand Diploma in Clinical Psychology or overseas equivalent qualification and hold a current practising certificate. The ideal candidate will have significant experience with neuropsychological assessment and rehabilitation.

Utu whanui - Salary range This role belongs to the Allied, Public Health, Scientific, and Technical Multi-Employer Collective Agreement (Expires June 2023) and falls between Step 1 ($77,478 p.a) and Step 10 ($111,719 p.a).
