Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity The remuneration range for this role is $116,040 - $127,674 and is covered by the collective agreement: (NZNO MECA) The ophthalmology department is currently expanding its services, which is an exciting time for all of us. We are moving to a new sensory hub building and are very interested in an experienced ophthalmology clinical nurse specialist to join our team.
Our Ophthalmology team are experienced and compassionate professionals and are keen to work with you in a collaborative, educative and patient / whanau focussed approach. This is a great opportunity for someone who is a solution focussed creative thinker to be part of an exciting development for our hospital and region.
Clinical Nurse Specialists play a pivotal role in ensuring patient and whanau are supported through their health care journey. We are seeking candidates who are capable to work at top of scope and provide and strive for exceptional quality of care within the planned care environment as per the organisation's policies, procedures and greater organisation's WAKA values.
Responsibilities include: · Case management of patients with specialist needs
· Conduct nurse led clinics
· Be a clinical leader in ophthalmology and work at top of scope
· Provide direct patient care, including assessments, treatments, interventional procedures and education.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team
· Actively engage in quality improvement initiatives/ developing practice improvement
· Maintain professional development and competence.
· Provide educational support and mentorship / provide in-service education
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
· Document patient care in a timely and accurate manner.
· Maintain a safe and clean environment.
· Salary as per NZNO MECA agreement

Whilst the unit is currently open Monday – Friday and some weekends, the role is advertised as rostered and rotating shifts. Gisborne Hospital, Te Whatu Ora, Tairawhiti and the Outpatient department is committed to CCDM/VRM, therefore shifts in other areas of the hospital are required.

We are keen to hear from you if you have:
· A Post-Graduate Diploma in Nursing and working towards Masters
· PDRP at expert or Designated Senior Nurse Level
· Experience of leadership and a 'can do' attitude
· Current APC to practise as a Registered Nurse in NZ
· Current VISA or eligible to work in NZ
