Working within a multi-disciplinary team, your role will be to provide a comprehensive range of specialist mental health nursing services to enhance mental health care for people in our care and management. This role reports to the clinical manager mental health at Otago Corrections Facility. Effective clinical caseload management will include triage, assessment and evidence informed treatments that are aligned to, and integrated with primary health and tertiary mental health provision, as well as overall promotion of the delivery of holistic and recovery-oriented health services across the wider prison environment. Post graduate qualification in mental health and/or training in different modalities of talk therapy are essential.
You will be joining our team as a registered nurse, bringing your current Nursing Council of NZ Annual Practising Certificate. Your role will involve demonstrating a strong alignment with our organisational values and mission, along with meeting key requirements such as having appropriate scope of practice in mental health or the potential to expand it. You will ideally hold a post-grad qualification in mental health or be actively working towards one.
Cultural competence is crucial, as you will need a deep understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and experience working with Maori, whanau, and iwi communities. Your experience in mental health nursing across various settings, along with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, will be invaluable as you work with internal and external stakeholders, leading and influencing positive changes. You will demonstrate a proven track record of working with individuals facing acute and complex mental health and/or addiction challenges, understanding the professional, ethical, and legislative obligations in providing mental health care within a prison environment.
The full salary range is $110,704 - $117,907.Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
