Clinical Nurse Specialist Mental Health - Auckland Region Women's Corrections Facility at Ara Poutama Aotearoa (Department of Corrections), Auckland (Tamaki Makaurau) Nga kawenga |About the role Working within a multi-disciplinary team, your role as Clinical Nurse Specialist will be to provide a comprehensive range of specialist mental health nursing services to enhance mental health care for the people in our management. Effective clinical caseload management will include triage, assessment and evidence informed treatments that are aligned to, and integrated with primary health and tertiary mental health provision, as well as overall promoting the delivery of holistic and recovery-oriented health services across the wider prison environment.
A key leadership function of the Clinical Nurse Specialist role is to also support the professional development pathways of Mental Health Nurses who also work as part of the Intervention and Support Practice Team delivering mental health services to those most vulnerable people in our care. This includes clinical oversight and mentoring.
This opportunity will suit a clinical professional who demonstrates a strong commitment to culturally safe practice and partnership. Our teams are committed to modelling expert clinical practice and ensure a strong focus on Humanising and Healing - respecting the human dignity and inherent mana of all people in our care, and their whanau.
We are seeking applications from suitably qualified candidates who resonate strongly with our Kaupapa. Candidates should hold a post-graduate qualification in mental health or be actively working towards one (or possess equivalent learning.) Cultural competence is paramount, including a robust understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its practical application, coupled with hands-on experience working with and for Maori communities. Applicants should bring to the table specialised expertise in mental health nursing across primary/community, secondary, or tertiary settings, along with a proven history of addressing acute and complex mental health and/or addiction challenges. Lastly, a thorough understanding of the professional, ethical, and legislative facets that underpin underpinning contemporary mental health practice is crucial.
The full salary range is $110,704 - $117,907. (This range will increase to $114, 025 -$121,444 as of July 2024.)Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
