The Waitangi Tribunal is a permanent commission of inquiry charged with making recommendations on claims brought by Maori relating to Te Tiriti o Waitangi. It holds a unique place in the New Zealand constitutional framework.
We are looking for a talented and hard-working person to join the Waitangi Tribunal Unit as a Claims Coordinator. Te Haeata/The Opportunity The Claims Coordinator supports the Waitangi Tribunal by performing event management and document management services that are essential to the effective operation of the organisation. These functions include:
Facilitating claimant participation in Waitangi Tribunal inquiriesOrganising official eventsProviding administrative support to Waitangi Tribunal members and the judiciaryNo candidate will meet every single desired qualification. To be successful in the role you will have:
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbalAttention to detail in managing large document banks and recordsExperience in planning large events in set timeframesFlexibility and ability to work in a dynamic environmentFull clean motor vehicle driver's license (essential)Experience working with judiciary and a commitment to developing your knowledge in Te Reo and Tikanga Maori will be an advantage.

The remuneration band for this role is $65,066 to $90,008 – while the appointing salary will be based on skills and experience, we are willing to pay higher in the band to attract strong candidates into this role.
