Want a childcare job that provides flexibility, a great base to travel the South Island, and the opportunity to do some work on farm if you wish?We are a dairy farming family in Mid Canterbury. Dad is full time on the farm, and Mum is doing some contract and farm work, so we are looking for a fun and energetic person to look after our 4 year old girl and 2 year old boy, with start date flexible, ideally by the end of July. We are a laid back but busy family, and will be looking for someone who is keen to be active with our kids and make the most of living in the country! We will both be at home for periods of the day while you’re working, so if you haven’t had a huge amount of experience with children, this doesn’t matter as long as you’re willing to learn.We are 10 minutes from Methven, just over an hour to Christchurch and an easy weekend trip to many South Island destinations including Queenstown, Wanaka, Hanmer, Akaroa, Kaikoura, Abel Tasman etc, so are well placed for you to make the most of the South Island. Mt Hutt skifield is close by as well - we are happy to be flexible to let you make the most of powder days.Duties would include:Keeping our little ones entertained while we are at workDoing some general tidying and basic house cleaning related to the kids, feeding the chickens and lambsSome meal prepSome town trips and taking the kids to play groups and activities.What we are looking for:Someone to start ideally by the end of July, and work through until at least the start of November - a longer period is also possible. A person who loves children, is able to be organised, and shows initiative.Experience with young children is preferable but not essentialSomeone who has a current visa for working in New Zealand and has a full drivers licence, with the ability to drive a manual carWhat the package will include:We can guarantee a minimum of 35 hours/week of work, and if you like we can make sure you have all weekends off, or if you prefer to ski through the week we can do weekdays off too. We can be flexible with when these hours are, so if you are wanting to do trips away, we can work it so you can have a longer period of days off in a row to use along with your annual leave.Accommodation - we may be able to provide accommodation (rent will be deducted), or Methven is close and very social over ski season.
