The Settlement will see the return of significant assets which will support numerous developments currently underway e.g. Whakatohea Aquaculture program, the Opotiki harbour development, and other land-based developments. It's an exciting time to be a part of our continued success story.Te aheinga - The opportunity:As the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for our organisation based in Opotiki, you will play a crucial role in leading and overseeing the financial functions of the Trust Board and its group. This includes managing financial planning, budgeting, accounting, and reporting activities, as well as ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant with significant management experience, expertise in finance and cost accounting, auditing and management accounting.This role is available to be worked remotely, with preference to the Eastern Bay of Plenty, however all applicants within the North Island will be considered. Strategic and Financial Leadership:Collaborate with Senior Leadership Team to provide financial insights and support strategic decision-making.Drive financial innovation and contribute to the development and execution of long-term business plans.Team Leadership and Development:Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing finance team.Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and accountability with the finance department.Compliance and GovernanceEnsure compliance with all relevant financial laws, regulations, and reporting requirements.Establish and maintain effective governance structures within the finance function.Financial Planning and AnalysisDevelop and implement financial strategies in alignment with the Trust's goals and objectives.Conduct thorough financial analysis, forecasting, and budgeting to support strategic. decision-making.Accounting and ReportingOversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements in compliance with relevant accounting standards.Ensure adherence to statutory and regulatory requirements and coordinate with external auditors for annual audits.Cost AccountingImplement and maintain effective cost accounting systems to track and control expenses.Analyse cost structures and recommend cost-saving measures to enhance profitability.Cash ManagementManage the Trusts cash flow, optimizing working capital and liquidity.Develop and implement strategies to maximize returns on investment and surplus funds.Identify and assess financial risks, implementing strategies to mitigate them.Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.Tohu - Qualifications Qualified accountant, with a recognized professional accounting qualification (CA, CPA, ACCA, or equivalent)Proven experience in a senior financial management role, preferably as a CFO.Strong background in auditing, finance, cost and management accounting.In-depth knowledge of New Zealand accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.Excellent leadership and people management skills.Strategic thinker and the ability to contribute to the overall business strategy.Effective communication skills and the ability to present complex financial information to non-finance stakeholders.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.If you meet the qualifications and experience above, we are excited about leading the financial strategy of a dynamic organization, then we invite you to apply for the position of Chief Financial Officer.Check us out at: https://www.whakatohea.co.nzDue to the large number of applications, we will only contact shortlisted candidates.  Your application will include the following questions: Which of the following statements best describes your right to work in New Zealand?
