Brooklyn Deli is a busy suburban day time cafe in the heart of Brooklyn. We are open Tuesday to Sunday and serve breakfast and lunch with a strong European twist. All food is made in house. And so are all our cakes, biscuits, pastries, rye sourdough bread, gluten-free bread and spelt bread. We are looking for an allrounder who has at least 5 years of experience in a similar role and can easily manage the kitchen on his own.
The right applicant will need:
To show the right skills & qualifications.
Must have experience in European continental style cooking and sourdough baking.
Have experience in planning menus, calculating food and labour costs and ordering food supplies.
Needs to be efficient at time management and multi-tasking, monitoring the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation, demonstrating techniques and advising on cooking procedures.
Excellent attention to detail.
Explaining and enforcing hygiene regulations.
May select and train staff.
Must be available weekends and able to work in a fast-paced environment, be honest, punctual and reliable.
