Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity We are seeking an experienced registered health professional to lead our ACT Community Mental Health & Addictions team, based in Hamilton.
The role reports to the operations manager of Community & Speciality services and consists of a team of 13 staff from various disciplines which includes a Psychologist, Social Workers, Nurses, Psychiatrist and Kaitakawaenga.

This is an experienced group of hardworking individuals who work hard to support those with enduring mental health and addiction nurse. The tangata whaiora have complex issues and present with different challenges so you will need to network across the health sector and community to ensure their needs are met.
There is no weekend work involved, hours are 8-4.30pm Monday to Friday.
Key responsibilities of the role: Be culturally responsive especially to the needs of Maori as there is a high proportion of Maori tangata whaiora in this team. To build relationships with key stakeholders in the community, these include NGO, and supported accommodation providers To lead by example, be recovery focused and person centred. To understand and support staff to implement the strategic direction, the vision and shared values of our mental health and addictions service. The Assertive Community Team is a specialist community mental health team that works alongside Tangata whaiora with chronic and enduring mental illness, some of the challenges these people face can be considered very complex. Often our clinicians need to think differently to enhance the care we are able to provide. They provide intensive follow up to Tangata Whaiora to reduce hospital admissions and support them to maintain their mental wellness in their community. The team works 7 days a week and provides an on call service.
Must be an experienced health care professional, with proven leadership skills. Must have a full drivers licence. Should have a good understanding and/or an intention to build an understanding of Waikato community services which would be of benefit to Tangata Whaiora and their whanau. Must demonstrate a commitment to the Treaty of Waitangi, and understand your role in leading a team to be culturally responsive for Maori. Be committed to implementing strategies to ensure the service delivery is of a high calibre. Have a genuine desire to improve the lives of tangata whaiora who require our secondary services.
