Playcentre Aotearoa are on the hunt for an effective communicator with a passion for Early Childhood Education.
The Centre Advisor provides advice and support to our centres. They are the link between centres and regional management, ensuring statutory regulations are met and the needs of our whanau and tamariki are supported.
The Centre Advisor supports centres by:Providing advice and support to 7 Playcentres from Wairoa, Matawai, GisborneRole modelling and encouraging implementation of Playcentre philosophy and good practice in centresLeading preparation for Ministry of Education Review Office visitsEnsuring that day to day actions are carried out to support compliance with statutory requirementsPromoting the health of each centreManaging centre-based employeesLiaising with the Regional Office and the centreService Provider Emergency ContactNo two days are the same! A day in the life of a Centre Advisor role might see you visiting a centre, checking in with staff and the wonderful whanau, identifying any needs they may have and providing advice and guidance where necessary. You'll interact with tamariki, role model Playcentre philosophy and good ECE practice, while being supported by the Regional Team and receiving regular PLD.

Location:The Centre Advisor is responsible for 7 Playcentres within Wairoa, Matawai and Gisborne.
Days & hours:This is a permanent position Monday - Friday for 20 hours per week within the hours of 9.00am - 2.45pm. Additionally, this position includes a fixed term position with an extra 6.25 hours, ending 31st August 2024.
The ideal candidate will:Hold a Playcentre Course 3 or above or ECE L4 and above and demonstrates a knowledge and understanding of either Playcentre or ECE environments.
You will bring:Excellent relationship management skills – proven ability to interact effectively and confidently with a range of stakeholdersSound judgement, a great work ethic and ability to work independentlyFlexibility and the ability to deal with issues as they ariseKnowledge of Te Whariki, ECE curriculum, Early Childhood Education legislation, and MOE licensing criteriaAn understanding of te ao Maori, including an appreciation of matauranga Maori, tikanga Maori and te reo Maori.An understanding of the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and how they relate to PlaycentreWell-developed influencing skills which support achievement of effective outcomesComputer literacy and experience with Microsoft OfficeIntelligence, an inquisitive mind, a can-do attitude, and a good sense of humourAccuracy and attention to detail as well as the ability to see the whole pictureAn ease of being in a leadership role with honesty, discretion, sensitivity, self-discipline, and resilienceApplicants for this position should have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa.
