The OpportunityWe are seeking a Calf Rearer to assist our team at our purpose-built calf rearing facility – Exeter for the Autumn. You will be required to help on a casual basis during the calving season, which ends mid-July.Your day-to-day activities may consist of, feeding calves, general hygiene, picking up calves, administering animal health treatments and processing calves through the cattle yards.Exeter is at the forefront of Pamu's non replacement calf strategy reducing the number of surplus calves on our pastoral farms. This also aligns with our dairy beef strategy as we will be supplying our livestock farms.The FarmLocated only 15 minutes from central Taupo, Exeter Calf Rearing aims to rear 1400 calves this autumn. Exeter is 84 effective ha with brand new infrastructure. Our purpose-built shed can hold up to 720 calves at a time. This state-of-the-art facility is designed to make large scale calf rearing enjoyable and efficient for staff.About YouThis role can be physically demanding so stamina and fitness are essential in this role. You must be able to lift 20kg.What you need:·An exceptional attitude to health and safety and animal welfare·A good eye for detail and a willingness to learn·To be punctual and reliable·The ability to work unsupervised·No prior experience needed This position can be catered to parents with young children, with flexible hours and rostered days on and could potentially extend out to spring calf rearing depending on staffing requirements. There is no accommodation onsite so reliable transport is required.
