Hill Laboratories, a leading provider of analytical laboratory services in New Zealand, has embarked on a significant digital transformation programme. We are modernising our bespoke Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), creating new ways of interfacing with our clients and upgrading our business processes. We are looking for a C# developer to join our growing development team. This isn’t your run of the mill development role. While your primary function will be to deliver working software, you’ll also be expected to contribute to both software and infrastructure design discussions. You’ll be involved in screen design discussion, story boarding and much more.
THE ROLE
Help design scalable software that makes full use of Saas solutions
Work with the BA’s in on-going requirement capture
Write microservices using REST and/or NServiceBus
Design & write WPF screens for end user consumption
Work with other developers to ensure our DevOps strategy is all it can be

ABOUT YOU
You will have a good knowledge of C# gained from two years+ of experience in the workplace. You’ll know Visual Studio inside out and producing WPF screens will be second nature to you. You’ll understand how the various aspects of a software architecture fit together and will be about able to create microservices in .net core. Most importantly you’ll have experience working in an agile team and will actively take ownership of your work ensuring it is completed within the sprint cycle.
The ideal candidate will have:
A numerate degree
Strives to be a T shaped developer
Solid understanding of how to create microservices using C# and the Entity Framework
Experience in data modelling, software patterns, application architecture/design and API design
Proven experience working with a complex, integrated multi-platform environment
Understand RESTful principles and be able to implement web services that are capable of functioning at scale
A solid understanding of both unit testing and acceptance testing under C#
Great SQL skills with significant exposure to MySQL or similar
Has worked in an agile team and understands the benefits of agile software development
Experience with JavaScript, HTML and CSS
Exposure to source control systems such as Git
You are passionate, energetic, personable and committed to your career. We’re looking for people that will do what it takes to get the job done
Familiarity with Linux and Microsoft Windows operating system platforms
Good communication skills and interpersonal skills
Exposure to AWS services such as EC2, API Gateway and Elastic Load Balancer
Excellent spoken and written English
