Key responsibilities for this role include: Support managers in employee life cycle decisions (recruitment, performance, engagement, etc.) Collaborate on development and talent plans aligned with organisational priorities Drive continuous improvement through projects with People and Culture team Stay informed on People and Culture policies and advise management accordingly Build strong relationships with Council managers, employees, and unions Liaise with internal teams on employee offers, changes, and resignations What you will bring: Tertiary qualification in Human Resources or related discipline, or significant relevant experience Practical working experience as a generalist HR practitioner Ability to coach, and mentor people leaders and share knowledge with other members of the P&C team Sound understanding and working knowledge of employee relations, NZ employment law and HR best practice Well developed computer and HR systems skills What we offer: Flexible working environment Career progression and training/development opportunities Positive focus of employee health and well-being: Workstation assessments, free flu vaccines, EAP services, 50% off eye exams, discounted gym memberships etc Kiwisaver and Superannuation Schemes Access to sick leave from day one of employment Appointment time leave: Up to 2 hours paid for important appointments eg.
