The Settlement will see the return of significant assets which will support numerous developments currently underway e.g. Whakatohea Aquaculture program, the Opotiki harbour development, and other land-based developments. It's an exciting time to be a part of our continued success story.Te aheinga - The opportunity:The role of the Budget and Financial Reporting Officer is to maintain accounting principles and best practices to ensure accurate and timely budgets and financial reporting, which adhere to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).This role also requires maintaining journals and ensuring compliance with GST and taxation regulations.Develops and implements internal annual operating and capital budgets in collaboration with relevant departments.Implements and manages forecasting tools that contribute to the financial modelling for cash-flow, expenditure and all revenue estimates.Reports against key budgetary targets and provides detailed variance analysis and forecasting against revenue and expenditure items.Provide recommendations for cost control.Identify potential budget risks, trends and opportunities to support strategic decision-making.Implementing departmental budgets, execution, monitoring, analysis, presentation and reporting of annual budgets.Create and manage the preparation of monthly reports to support departmental and business financial reporting requirements.Prepare detailed internal financial reports, including researching and explaining significant variances by workingclosely with various departments and management.Prepare all funding milestone financial reports.Prepare and analyse financial statements monthly, including: income statements, profit and loss reports, balance sheet, and statement of cash flows.Perform financial quality assurance checks and general ledger checks to ensure accurate financial reporting.Review, investigate, and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports.Investigate and report to the Manager any inconsistencies or irregularities.Fulfil external accountability obligations by producing financial information for a mix of provisions, including funders, Annual Reports, Charities Services, Companies Office, Statistics NZ, banking covenants, and other official requests within required timeframes and in accordance with statutory requirements.Bachelor Degree (Finance, Accounting, Business Management, Economics, Project Management) with five years of relevant professional experience.Sound knowledge and understanding of accounting theory, concepts and principles, combined with proven practical skills in financial and cost accounting reporting, business planning, work programming, budgeting, financial management, audit and ledgers.Strong problem solving, conceptual, and analytical skills.Proven experience in the development and implementation of new technologies related to resource management and budget/operations monitoring.Proven experience with using Xero, Xero Projects, Figured Farming and forecasting tools.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.If your skills and experience match this role, please APPLY NOW!
