Bricklayer Assistant

Job Description •    Assist erecting and dismantling restricted height scaffolding •    Assist sealing foundations with damp-resistant materials and spreading layers of mortar to serve as base and binder for blocks using trowels •    Assist laying bricks in rows, designs and shapes, and spreading mortar between joints •    Assist embedding blocks in mortar and removing excess mortar •    Assist checking vertical and horizontal alignment •    Assist cutting, shaping and polishing stones and bricks using machines and hand tools, and shaping bricks to fit irregular spaces •    Assist repairing and maintaining bricks, cement blocks and related structures •    Assist designing and cutting monumental masonry and lettering •    Assist constructing walls using stone slabs and large masonry slab blocks More details about the position •    Location: Auckland         •    Permanent full-time •    Positions for this job: 2 •    Pay rate: $26.69- 29.66 per hour •    Days required: 5-6 days/week •    Hours per week: at least 30, maximum 55 hours/week Onsite training will be provided so no prior experience is mandatory, the successful applicant must have one of the following: •    Good work attitude and good communication skills  •    Physical fitness and could handle the heavy workload  •    Quality workmanship and eye for detail •    Strong dedication to health and workplace safety Strong ability to work independently
