The employer and the role This long standing Kiwi owned business consists of a team of experts and is looking to employ a qualified mechanic to join their workshop in Auckland. The employer is a specialist transmission and gearbox repair shop providing servicing and repair work on both automatic and manual transmissions. You will carry out servicing, repairs, and maintenance to a range of cars and light trucks in relation to transmissions/gearboxes. For those without prior transmissions experience, you will be trained to carry out this kind of work including: Stripping and rebuilding gearboxes Identifying faults in internal stripped assemblies Accurately diagnosing faults in gearboxes and/or clutches, 4WD transfer cases, and differentials Requirements Ideally you will have worked in a specialist transmission / gearbox environment, but consideration will also be given to general automotive technicians with solid experience or interest in this area. You must be willing to get stuck in and lend a hand in other departments such as the fitting shop. As such, applicants should be team players with a positive can-do attitude. Diagnostics experience is also sought after, as are solid English communication skills both written and verbal. You will also need to adhere to Health and Safety protocols and be able to work without supervision. In return Wage rates will depend on the successful candidate and will range between $30 and $40 per hour. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well experienced team in a busy and productive environment. This is a full time, permanent role offering a minimum of 40 hours per week.
