Details of the offer

We are a family of five and would like to welcome an au pair into our home and be a part of our family during a busy part of the year for us. We encourage our au pair to feel part of the family and to feel like our house is their home while they are with us - to experience our family and food, to bring friends around and to enjoy our environment and get out and experience our lovely country and sights. Our Family; We are a family of five, Dad (Marty) is a dairy farmer, Mum (Amy) is an emergency department nurse; and kids Caitlin who is 7 years old, Jack who is 5 years old, and Millie who is 15 months old.We live on a dairy farm which Marty works in conjunction with other staff we employ.During the months of August-October Amy takes time off from working at the hospital and is required to work full-time rearing the new born calves on the farm.Caitlin is a super happy-go lucky girl, with very few concerns in the world. She has a very outgoing personality but also caring for people and making them laugh. She sees the best in everyone. Jack is quite the opposite to his older sister. He is more serious and a deeper thinker but this helps them to get on very well. Both Caitlin and Jack just love their little sister Millie. They often include her in their play which is so cute and fun for them all. Our Living Situation; We have recently moved into a brand new spacious 4 bedroom home which has two bathrooms. We are offering our au pair her own double sized bedroom with a television if they want one and access to unlimited wifi. Our Region; We live in a rural community called Dipton which is fifteen minutes from Winton, one hour from Te Anau, and one and a half hours from Queenstown. Winton is our smaller town closest to us which has a supermarket, pharmacy, library, some retail clothing, book shops etc. Basically Invercargill is our closest city which is a 40 minute drive. I may be a wee bit biased but the people who live in Dipton are very lovely and friendly;)Our au pair can have access to a car to use in their free time to go and explore the many beautiful local sights close to home on their days off. What we do in our free time;We enjoy catching up with friends and family who all live close by and are all very friendly and welcoming to anyone in our lives. We like to be an active family, participating in local sport teams when able. Tasks, schedules and pocket money;Of course we expect the usual attributes like honesty and reliability and being able to do things punctually. We are looking for someone with self motivation and initiative to make fitting into the new environment easier and enjoyable. An idea of a daily/weekly timetable would be:- Being there in the mornings when the kids wake up.- Giving them breakfast, getting them dressed and putting Caitlin and Jack onto the school bus.- Millie will be hanging in the mornings of the school week. On Tuesday mornings a local group of mothers and young children get together which is a fun activity for both kids and mums/caregivers.- We expect the au pair to be able to cook a few meals for the family a week. You don’t have to be a master chef in the kitchen just as long as you enjoy and have some competency in the kitchen, we are more than happy to offer assistance and give ideas.- We expect the au pair to do light house work and duties, and maintain their own room and help kids with tidying their toys and their own room etc., and assist with keeping the family living space clean and tidy.Other things our au pair should know; The weekly hours of work will range from 30-35 hours generally from Monday - Friday, with room to earn more of a weekly allowance if the au pair wants to work Saturdays also during the busy months of August and September. We are flexible and happy to occasionally swap days to suit any travel or long weekend plans our au pair want to have. You may be travelling with a friend who is also looking for an au pair job? We have lovely friends who are also looking for an au pair who live only 5 minutes away. They also attend playgroup and have similar aged children to us. This may be appealing to those who are travelling together as then you could catch up during work hours for playdates and also arrange your time off together to explore the beautiful parts of the lower South Island. If you think you would fit into our friendly rural family, we would love to hear from you to discuss the qualities and experience you have to offer our family!
