The Department of Architecture in the College of Design and Engineering is ranked among the top 10 in the world, and Asia's best in Architecture/Built Environment, by the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings (2023). It offers the professionally accredited Master of Architecture programme as well as a range of graduate and undergraduate programmes in related fields such as urban planning and design, architectural conservation and landscape architecture. The faculty is correspondingly diverse and international. Qualifications The Department of Architecture at the National University of Singapore invites applications for Tenure track (Assistant Professor) position in computational design. Successful candidates should be actively engaged in computational design and design computing. They should have interests in developing interdisciplinary research adopting and developing computational methods, tools, and processes to address pressing challenges to the built environment, especially in Asia, at the architectural or urban scale. They are strongly encouraged to develop collaborative research in the context of the newly established College of Design and Engineering as well as with industry partners and government agencies within beyond Singapore. Successful candidates should also have interests and experience in running computational design studios in an interdisciplinary setting. We are especially interested in applicants who are able to deploy the studio as a testbed for questions related to pressing challenges to the built environment. Successful candidates are also expected to teach core modules related to design computing, design to fabrication, extended reality, or artificial intelligence for design. The candidate should possess a Ph.D. degree in Architecture, Computational Design, or related fields as well as requisite experience and credentials suitable for full-time appointment in NUS. They should (i) demonstrate a proven track record in, or strong potential for, research; (ii) have the ability to teach both studio and core modules of computational design and design computing at undergraduate and postgraduate levels; and (iii) for the position of professor and associate professor, have strong academic credentials, extensive experience and strong competence in academic leadership and management.
