About The RoleThe Ka Ora, Ka Ako | Healthy School Lunches Programme is a government initiative that aims to reduce food insecurity by providing children with access to a nutritious school lunch every day. The UCSA provides around 5,000 of these lunches each day in the Christchurch area.The main responsibility of the Assistant Production Supervisor is to assist the Production Manager in the day-to-day operation of the Production Kitchen. This includes co-ordinating particular sections of production, ensuring dietary meals are prepared separately to eliminate the risk of cross-contamination, staff management, and stock and quality control.This is a full-time role of 40 hours each week, during Primary/Secondary school term time, based in Hornby.About YouYou will have a Level 3 National Certificate in Hospitality (Professional Cookery) or a similar qualification and at least two years' experience working in a kitchen environment. You will ideally have previous experience ordering stock and dealing with suppliers. You will have/be:Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skillsThe ability to work as part of team and conduct yourself in a positive and professional manner at all timesWell-developed organisational, delegation and supervisory skills and strong attention to detailAbility to prioritise, multitask and work under pressureThe ability to lift up to 20kg and to sometimes work in a refrigerated environment.About the UCSAEstablished in 1894, the University of Canterbury Student Association (UCSA) is a not-for-profit organisation that supports students to succeed and belong.
