We offer benefits and programs that assist career development such as professional development support, exam and study assistance and global rotation opportunities which will support you to reach your full potential.We also recognise the value of healthy, happy colleagues and promote a culture of inclusion, care and wellbeing, offering benefits such as flexible working and much more!Leading learning and development programsProfessional environment where your career path really matters and is supported in our global organisationGreat team environment with energetic and supportive colleaguesGenuine work life balanceWe will count on you to :The Assistant Portfolio Manager / Portfolio Manager role assists with delivering performance for a range of single sector and / or diversified funds.Asset classes include Equities, Fixed Income, and the spectrum of Private Markets.The role involves assisting with formulating proposals on asset allocation, manager selection and portfolio construction across a range of funds, and for overseeing these funds on an ongoing basis.This role will contribute to meeting our client's needs by delivering excess returns and contributing to overall fund outcomes.In addition, the role will be an active contributor to the SAA & DAA process, including idea generation, portfolio management and peer analysis.The Assistant Portfolio Manager / Portfolio Manager will report to the Chief Investment Officer and work collaboratively with the local and global investment management teams to ensure that portfolio construction is aligned with client needs and leverages the benefits of Mercer's global scale and expertise.To be successful, the candidate will need to work collaboratively across Mercer in the Pacific and globally to deliver the best of Mercer to our clients.Key responsibilities will likely include :Manager selection and portfolio construction : this role will have responsibility for the delivery of alpha for a range of funds.From time to time, new funds may be established to meet specific client needs, or the evolving requirements of the overarching investment strategy.Included in this responsibility is ensuring best-practice integration of sustainable investing principles into the funds.Pacific and Global Investment team interaction : collaborate with Mercer teams locally and in other regions teams to formulate Mercer's best-idea model portfoliosClient and industry-facing representative of Mercer : in conjunction with the consultants, client service and sales teams and other Wealth colleagues, work with clients to understand their needs, communicate portfolio strategy and performance and support Mercer's business development initiatives.This includes representing Mercer and the IM team with key external stakeholders as required.Contributing to broader team goals and activities : work collaboratively with the broader PM team to work towards a set of common goals, the most important of which is delivering investment outcomes that meet or exceed objectives.From time to time this may mean getting involved in projects or tasks outside of your specific responsibilities in order to support the broader team goals.The role may be required to cross-train and provide backup or coverage on other asset classes when required.Driving contemporary processes : ensure continued development of latest investment and risk management processes including risk budgeting, sustainable investing integration, portfolio construction techniques and whole of portfolio approaches.What you need to have :Qualifications at a Degree level in an appropriate analytical discipline such as finance, economics or mathematics. A suitable post graduate qualification, such as CFA, CIMA or Masters in a relevant discipline is preferred.Experience of Multi-Sector and / or single sector manager selection and / or portfolio construction.In depth understanding of different approaches to portfolio construction, including passive, active, factor, core and high convictionExtensive knowledge of investment markets, their underlying drivers, the relationships between different asset types and signs of market dislocations.Track record in engaging with clients and their advisors and have extensive interaction with senior client decision makers.Highly evolved analytical skillsStrong communicator and ability to interact confidently with other senior investment professionals, internal stakeholders including CSMs and sales staff, with clients, tender managers as well as the Fund's Board of Directors.Well-developed leadership skillsConfidently represent Mercer with external audiencesStrategic thinkerDemonstrated ability to work collaborativelyClear communication and writing skillsGoal orientatedGood judgementAbout us :believes in building brighter futures by redefining the world of work, reshaping retirement and investment outcomes, and unlocking real health and well-being.Mercer's approximately 25,000 employees are based in 43 countries and the firm operates in 130 countries.
