Work Type Permanent - Full Time,Permanent - Part TimeJob Description We are a progressive, innovative farm, looking for a capable, honest, self-managing couple (or 2 people) with initiative and attention to detail, to share the workload of 1.5 full time employees. Along with Halter (as a full-time labour unit supplement) and myself (50:50 share-milker).Halter includes app based virtual fencing, paddock-to-cowshed and paddock-to-paddock shifting, animal health alerts, mating alerts, visual aids for drafting, pasture-pro (live round-length, farm/paddock covers, feed allocation, pasture growth rates and bench-marking, and in-paddock drafting), all accessible from smart phone.The position includes working alongside the share-milker in all farming aspects, milking (sole-charge at times), cowshed hygiene, animal husbandry and record-keeping, daily allocation of pasture and supplements, fence maintenance (paddock/race boundaries), calf rearing (including recording) & weed control.The successful applicant will have at least 2 years experience (or equivalent) with sole-charge experience, a self-managing, motivated, honest and punctual work ethic. Training can be given on Halter and sole-charge of rotary shed. Preference for someone with experience driving tractors and machinery on hilly terrain however training can be provided to the right person for the job. Bonuses will be provided on top of the competitive salary package for: grade-free milk quality, timeliness with farm maintenance / machinery maintenance and care, general high standards of the farm and home properties.Applicants need to hold a current NZ drivers licence and be NZ or Australian citizens (including people born in the Cook Islands / Niue or Tokelau), or have a NZ residence visa, or a NZ work visa.We are a family friendly employer..Accommodation Tidy 3 bedroom house with separate bathroom / toilet / laundry, external lock-up garage and sea views.The farm is located in Pollok at the beginning of the Awhitu Peninsula, 20 minutes from Waiuku, 40 minutes from Pukekohe and just over 1 hour from Auckland City centre. Costal, with views of the Manukau Harbour, the 3 bedroom certified 'Healthy Home' has fireplace, secure garage and a deck with sea views. Located on Pollok Wharf Road, the home is 3 minutes drive to the nearest wharf with boat ramp facilities, primary school and well-equipped dairy. 5 minutes drive North is Hamilton's Gap- a stunning West Coast beach with good fishing and overnight camping facilities. Kariotahi Beach, a popular fishing, motorbike riding and surfing spot, is a 20 minute drive away. The farm has wild deer, an abundance of wildlife and mature native trees. Pollok is a friendly community, with an arts co-op shop, book exchange, tennis courts and a monthly produce / craft market.Local schools are Awhitu Area Primary School and Waiuku College. School bus stop is a 5 minute walk from the house. (The primary school is a 5 minute driveaway).
