Birdhurst Group is a family owned and operated apple and kiwifruit business and along with its postharvest entity Golden Bay Fruit grows, packs and sells fruit around the world. With marketing staff based offshore, this Motueka company continues to expand and operates a state of the art packing facility using the world’s leading technology.
This role has been established to support the company’s increased production associated with new plantings and increased consumer demand in overseas markets.
Key responsibilities include undertaking orchard operations including pruning, thinning, spraying, harvesting, tractor operating plus all aspects of workforce management.
While previous orchard experience is preferred a background in other production settings is of interest, especially if applicants are committed to being part of the company’s future growth.
You will be a self-starter, a natural leader of people with a love for the outdoors. This is a key role requiring a person with a practical mind but one who is also safety and quality focussed. The successful applicant will be good with numbers with a strong attention to detail and who understands orchard best practice techniques or can quickly come up to speed with what is required.
The position will suit an up and coming horticultural professional or others who are looking for more growth with the potential to progress further with the company in time.
