Reporting to the Head of Core Systems, the purpose of the Application Support Analyst is:
To be involved in the 2nd and 3rd line support, maintenance and problem resolution across the core Insurance applications.
To work on analyses and resolution of incidents and problems to assist internal and external clients to meet their business objectives in the delivery of products and services.
To implement technical changes that enhance existing business objectives and introduce new objectives.
To work in conjunction with Application Support Analysts from the Support team and Analyst Programmers and Business Analysts from Development teams.
To work closely with the business, understanding the business requirements and how the systems meet them.
The position is responsible for maintaining system functionality to meet business requirements across project and non-project work, provide input and assistance to the project teams and as such requires the incumbent to be the subject matter expert on the technical requirements required to deliver to those business needs.
The role enables Cigna to maintain, develop and enhance system functionality to meet ever changing business needs.
There will be an "24x7 on call" component to this role and expectation of weekend or overnight overtime to support to the business requirements.
Critical Priorities & Responsibilities:Financial:
Identify and implement methods of improving business process and system quality and efficiency.
Customer:
Provide timely operational support for specific applications.
Assist Business Users and First Line Support/Help Desk to resolve production problems and failures. Communicating directly with Customers/Advisers if required.
Participate in Delivery of changing functionality as required, including testing and implementation of change with documentation through the SDLC.
Process:
Responsible for producing functional specifications and implementation plans.
Responsible for maintaining scripts and process for testing at all levels.
Responsible for maintaining support documentation.
People:
Liaise with business end users on a day-to-day basis.
Liaise with vendors as required for support of the systems.
Participate confidently in 1:1 discussions with technical representatives of software Vendors.
Risk/Compliance/Behaviours:
Consistently works in accordance with Cigna values.
Use Cigna standard systems, tools and methodologies.
Experience/ Education /Knowledge Requirements:
Proven experience in Microsoft .Net technologies, Microsoft Server and Infrastructure, Microsoft SQL, Microsoft Browsers and general networking, as well as standard tools such as Jira, Confluence and Chrome.
Sound knowledge of the operational requirements of systems administration.
Proven experience in life insurance systems administration. Understanding of the practices within the Life insurance industry desirable.
Role Competency Requirements:
Above average numeric, analytical and interpretative skills.
Has a methodical and logical approach to work requirements.
Ability to analyse information and translate into operational requirements.
Excellent communication skills. Proven ability to write clearly, logically and concisely without the need to use technical jargons.
