Apple Orchard Manager For New Orchard

Judco Ltd currently has an apple orchard with 1st and 2nd year trees established and more trees being planted this year and next to a total of approximately 30ha. This year we produced our first fruit. Due to this expansion we are looking for a full-time orchard manager.

You will be part of the Judco Management Team reporting directly to the General Manager.

Ideally you will have a relevant tertiary qualification and at least 3 years’ experience in a similar role.

Your duties will include
• Staff management, training, and well being
• Organisation and training of sub-contractors as required
• Overseeing of all orchard activities from planting through to harvest
• Ensuring Judco health and safety procedures are followed

You will need a good working knowledge of how to run a highly productive orchard with expertise in
• Tree training
• Crop loading
• Chemicals, spraying and spray diaries
• Fertiliser and soil testing
• Irrigation
• Practical tasks eg pruning, bud counts, quality control etc
• Relevant computer programs such as crop sure, orchard hand and orchard net

A basic knowledge of Compliance i.e. Global Gap
