This is a new job in a fast growing anaesthetic department in one of New Zealand's regional public hospitals. The hospital has 270 beds and is expanding its bed capacity and services. The anaesthesia department is staffed by 27 consultant anaesthetists practising acute and elective anaesthesia for a wide range of surgical and interventional radiological procedures. Role Responsibilities Share responsibility with colleagues to ensure provision of efficient and effective quality anaesthetic and critical care services. Perform anaesthetic duties which lie within your training and ability and manage patients according to contemporary convention and college guidelines. Work Routine Hours which are 8 am to 6pm Monday to Friday. Participation in after-hours on call for Anaesthesia is a requirement, on occasion dependent on surgical case mix. Clinical Duties of the Specialist Anaesthetist may include: Provision of anaesthesia for elective surgery sessions and emergency surgery, pre-operative assessment clinic and Acute Pain Service duties. Requirements: To be successful in your application for this opportunity as the Consultant Anaesthetist we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history: QUALIFICATIONS: medical degree and FRANZCA or equivalent specialist qualification in anaesthesia PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATION: must be eligible for vocational registration with the medical council of New Zealand. SKILLS: must be able to work effectively as part of a team but also independently and have enthusiasm for the teaching of junior doctors.
