About the role
We are looking for a capable person, ideally with previous health care experience, to work alongside our occupational therapy and physiotherapy team at Nelson Hospital, and take a lead role in managing our Allied Health equipment store.
Our Allied Health Assistants undertake a range of activities and duties under the direction of therapists in care delivery, managing and maintaining equipment and other tasks as directed. Days of work are Monday – Friday, from 9.00am and up to 4.30pm on some days.
About you
We are looking for a practical, well organised and physically fit person with life experience and excellent written and oral communication skills. You will be responsible for managing Allied Health equipment stock, assisting therapists with their queries, and carrying out equipment deliveries and collections, under delegation from qualified staff. You will have a busy and varied day, working with a wide range of people, so a commitment to teamwork and a 'can do' attitude are essential.
You will need to be able to carefully follow instructions and provide clear and accurate feedback. Previous experience within the health sector, knowledge of Allied Health equipment, and confidence with information technology systems is preferred.
Qualification
A requirement of this role is that the NCEA Level 3: New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing – Health Assistance Strand, if not previously obtained, is to be completed within 2 years of commencement, or to be commenced within your first year of employment.
