Are you are an experienced, youth and family focused Alcohol and Drug clinician with an interest in working collaboratively and in partnership with community services who would like to make a positive difference in the lives of others?
We are currently seeking someone from a relevant professional background who has initiative and is highly motivated to work as a full-time Youth AOD Clinician with a Primary Care focus.
Auckland Community Alcohol and Drug Services (CADS) is the largest provider of outpatient Alcohol & Drug Services in New Zealand. Included in this service is the recognition of the increasing need to provide a specialist service for Youth and their families/whanau.
The CADS Altered High Youth Service is a vibrant and innovative service for young people from the age of 13 and up to 20 years who present in relation to alcohol and other drug issues. We are a service that strives to provide treatment where young people are i.e: schools, youth agencies, and in the home as well as maintain and improve quality standards of clinical practice, community and professional relationships and networks, and support the growth and development of staff. We are a mobile regional community team, based in Kingsland and a current driver's license is essential
Young people can experience poor access to primary care health services due to a number of factors, this role aims to enhance interface and liaison between DHB and primary care services including PHO's, general practitioners, practice nurses and school health services in the wider Auckland region in respect to provision of youth AOD treatment for young people.
Applicants will be able to demonstrate their ability to provide alcohol and drug counselling with young people and their families / whanau as well as a willingness and commitment to working in partnership with Maori and Pacific Island youth services and with a range of other services and sectors such as Child and Adolescent Mental Health services, Oranga Tamariki, Non-Government Organisations, Education and Justice.
CADS Altered High Youth Service would like to talk to you about this exciting role.
Essential
Relevant postgraduate health or education related tertiary qualification
Relevant knowledge of, and experience working with youth and their families/ whanau
Knowledge of the concepts and implications of the Harm Reduction model, and willingness to work within this framework.
Proven skills in clinical assessment, treatment planning and goal setting.
Ability to develop and implement treatment plans in line with client goals
Experience in counselling and psycho/educational group work
The ability to work both independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
Ability to develop and maintain effective networks.
Excellent verbal and written communication.
Drivers licence for both manual and automatic vehicles
Basic computer skills

Desired
Extensive experience working with youth and their families/whanau
Significant experience and/or training in the alcohol and drug field
Relevant training in family work
Relevant postgraduate health or education related tertiary qualification.
