It is key in promoting trust and confidence in the transparency of government. The role also supports and works with senior advisors in the team to deliver the wider work programme including providing strategic advice and support to the General Manager Ministerial Services, the Ministerial Services leadership team and wider groupWorking at the Department of Internal Affairs (DIA), you'll have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of New Zealanders.The Ministerial Services group, is responsible for providing a range of services to the executive arm of government with the Strategy and Business Support (SBS) team providing support and advisory functions.The SBS team supports the General Manager and the wider group by:coordinating input into official correspondence requests and processes;leading the groups strategic and business planning processes, public accountability and corporate reporting functions;developing and delivering activity to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of Ministerial Services and DIA;working with key stakeholders to ensure advice is well informed and risk aware.The successful candidate will possess;exceptional oral and written communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels, including operational staff across the department, senior managers and the Ministers office;an understanding of Official Information Act, Privacy Act and Ombudsman process and applicable legislation;experience in communicating complex issues to varying audiences.excellent attention to detail; andpossess efficient prioritisation and time management skills while working to meet legislative timelines.As an Advisor, you will be responsible for providing timely, accurate and high-quality advice to the General Manager specifically, drafting and reviewing responses to official correspondence, contributing to operational policies, procedures and continuous improvement work for the group. From time to time you will also contribute to public accountability reporting and business support activities.You will be part of a small team who have a genuine interest in sharing knowledge and supporting one another in an enjoyable, busy and sometimes high paced environment. You will work closely with the SBS Manager and Senior Advisors to deliver for the GM, wider-group and our Minister.
