ADDICTIONS COUNSELLOR VACANCY – INVERCARGILL Nga Kete Matauranga Pounamu Charitable Trust (NKMP) is seeking an experienced Mental Health/Alcohol and Addictions Practitioner to work with whanau as part of our Hiwa-i-te-rangi team, focusing on methamphetamine addiction counselling. You will be joining a kaupapa Maori organisation working in the field of mental health and addiction. You will work as a senior in our Wellbeing Centre – Tumanako Oranga. The centre offers integrated services – theraputic settings, experiential learning and advocacy. You will be responsible for providing confidential counselling to tangata whaiora who are experiencing mild to moderate mental health and methamphetamine addiction issues. The desired applicant will have experience working in the field of mental health and addiction in a primary or secondary care setting, effective communication skills, be able to work autonomously and in a team, have a comprehensive knowledge of drug treatment modalities, experienced working in a kaupapa Maori setting, highly skilled in documentation, be able to cope under pressure, have great time management skills, and hold a current full driver's license. A strong local network would also be an advantage. You must have appropriate qualifications in addictions and/or mental health and be registered with DAPAANZ, NZAC, PBANZ, or similar registration boards (or a pathway to gaining registration).
