The Role: Based in our offices in Christchurch (Hornby), we have an exciting opportunity for an Accounts Payable Officer to join our talented and close-knit Finance team. Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Accounts Payable Officer is responsible for a variety of accounting and administration tasks relating to the efficient and effective processing of accounting transactions in addition to administering employee expense claims and company credit card reconciliations. The role requires a high standard of accuracy and timeliness and will also be expected to look for and drive improvement opportunities in existing processes and focus on maximising the effective utilisation of all relevant systems.
More specifically, as the Accounts Payable Officer, you will be responsible for:- Processing and reconciling invoices and creditor statementsLiaising with all departments regarding invoices and invoice requirements etcPreparing creditor payment runs with appropriate reconciliation and reportingEnsuring invoice compliance with associated internal policies and proceduresMonitoring, reporting on and following up overdue invoicesLoading new and maintaining existing vendors detailsProcessing international money transfersMonitoring daily accrualsA range of additional accounts tasks as required in a large complex business Candidates will possess: Previous experience working in a similar accounts position in a busy and large-scale complex organisation - ideally supported by an accounting or related qualificationExcellent time management skills and an exceptional level of attention to detailExcellent communication, relationship management and influencing skillsA good degree of IT literacy and be able to learn new systems and be comfortable using a variety of MS Excel based spreadsheetsA passion for accurately completing a large volume of data entry related tasksA strong customer service focus and the ability to manage and appropriately prioritise competing demandsThe ability to operate well as part of a team, and demonstrated energy and initiativeThe drive to accomplish goals and to be accountable for resultsA desire to challenge the status quo, be a change champion and help to implement improvementsA proactive, flexible and adaptable approach with the ability to work well under pressureThis is a busy role working in a close-knit team with the ability to form relationships across the entire business.
